Catching up and down, and movin all around

Jun 13 2009 Published by Moos under TV, Theatre, Thinking out loud, YouTube, blog, daily stuff, family

This has been the busiest month of my life! and it’s gonna get more busy and busy soon!

what have I been up to? hmmm, what haven’t I been up to!

Was part of 2 plays by BAIA, Annie: The Musical and Oliver: The musical… they were only 1 week apart… a lot of rehearsals and hard work, on stage and backstage also…  Also was writing a lot, some stuff for a future tv project… haven’t you people had enough of the stupid comedy shows they put on tv here? I shouldn’t have said comedies really… I mean sillies… that’s what I’d like to call them, sillies!! but yeah, hopefully it’ll turn out fine and it gets picked up by some tv channel, an be funny enough… or silly enough… who cares? woohhoo!!

And I’m currently working as a production manager for 2 big tv commercials, we’re doing a lot of pre-production stuff… I’m working with an american producer, and really learning a lot from him… he calls me “hippie” ; – )

I’m also working as an assistant director for a tv show for Ramadan, a 3D animation show *wink wink* a friend of mine likes to think that I’m an AssDirector *another wink wink* … it’s a really nice experience to work with voice acting and editing it then move to animate it rather than what I’m used to in shooting on video… and it does pay well *a big wink wink* and who said I’m only doing it for the money since I’m unemployed? *a really big exaggerated wink wink*

No no, I really enjoy working on such stuff… what else?

I’ve been listening a lot to stand-up comedy by Rodney Dangerfield… “What a crowd! what a crowd!”

I’m going to Dubai on the 25th with 2 of my sisters, this “ma7ram” thing  is getting really cool… an all paid trip to Dubai with pocket money… and they think unemployement doesn’t pay!

I haven’t been reading any blogs and have to catch up with you people, that’s if you were writing yourself! but yeah…

My hair is the longest it’s ever been, didn’t even trim it in 4 months… from behind it looks like a very dissapointing afro!

I’ll be writing more soon… the wheel is back in motion…

This song makes wanna have a daughter to sing it to! When I have a daughter I have to find a karaoke version of this song… unless I learn to play guitar at some point in my life…

This is Paul Simon’s “Father and Daughter” … just listen, don’t watch the video, it’ll ruin it for you…

Shooting and other stuff

Jan 10 2009 Published by Moos under Theatre, YouTube, daily stuff, funny, music

Haven’t shot my film yet, I’m facing a problem with getting permissions to shoot in Souk Sharq’s parking lot and in Sultan Center Sharq, but that’s coming fine and hopefully we’ll start shooting either this week or after January 25th

Hussain I haven’t seen you min zeman ya chalb! I’m your mother!!

I have to learn this song for the BAIA showcase next Feb… It’s called “Electricity” from “Billy Elliot: The Musical” … I’m not the main singer on this one of course, cuz that would be silly! But I start singing with the chorus when it says “It’s a bit like being angry” … hmmm, I also have to learn “Seasons of Love” from Rent… I have to learn them by next Wednesday… both songs can be found at the end of this post

I helped a friend of mine in cutting scenes from a film for her presentation for a theory class at KU, I charged her 50 KDs! I’m just kidding… anyway, so my friend invites me to her presentation. The thing is that Dr. “J B” chooses students randomly to present. Sooo, I attend 2 classes and she didn’t present yet… before I attend the third class I get a phone call from her saying that Dr. “J B” spoke to her and asked her to tell me that I can’t attend the class anymore.

Why?

Dr “J B” said that some girls complained becuz they got nervous while presenting becuz of my “manly vibes” … yes ladies and gentlemen… manly vibes! I didn’t know that I had such strong vibes… yeah, not to mention that there were 4 other guys in the class itself…

Manly vibes!

I have a few ideas for stand-up comedy… don’t know where to go with them yet… probably youtube… madri… but that’s too early to decide though… too busy to start working on that…

Catching up… and down…

Yesterday was the last Othello performance, it went really well I think. We got lots of good reviews from people… of course no one will say it was bad! they’ll keep it to themselves, right? but things really went well, and we had people waiting on the gates for tickets for the last 2 days… it was overbooked, at least that was what I heard ;)

I didn’t go to the gym in 2 weeks. And been eating lots of fast food during the rehearsals… what would you eat if you have a 45 minutes break and there’s no decent restaurants next to the British embassy of course, so hello Souq Sharq food court!! I think I gained a lot of weight…. not that I’m worried, but I was really eating wayed wayed and not going to the gym, so you do the math… or you do the fat :p

I still have the last 30 pages of a book I’m reading and didn’t finish it yet, it’s been maybe 4 weeks wallah. I still have lots of projects coming up, 3 short films and an ad for TV… busy busy busy… I haven’t watched a film in a few weeks ba3ad, which is very critical in my case… I miss movie nights in my place, specially the ones that Hussain falls asleep during, it’s an indication that the film is really good… this rating system is better than any other ;)

My brother is getting better, and he’ll be out of the hospital hopefully next Thursday… I really miss him… and glad he’ll be out

I would like also to thank Reemi for organizing the films screening in KU this morning, and thanx to all our friends who came and I hope they enjoyed their time… of course they did!!

After that I went out to lunch with Nada, we had lots of things to talk about and I really had a great time… Thanx Nada, next time is on ME! :)

Ok, people you really gotta see this… I never thought that Steven Seagal can sing to save his life, whatever that means… but really? Steven Seagal? Singing? I’m really surprised… he’s actually not bad… actually good and better than lots of the shit that’s on MTV and the radio

This is the poster of the forthcoming BAIA production of ‘Othello, The Moor of Venice’, which will be performed from October 31st to November 2nd at the British Embassy Atrium, Kuwait. (5 shows)

Set in the sixteenth century, Othello is a story of jealousy and intrigue, love and hate, honour and deceit. The story travels from the cultural city of Venice to the exotic land of Cyprus, where the controversial marriage of the black General Othello and Venetian Desdemona ends in tragedy due to the jealousy and hatred of the convincing Iago.

‘Othello’ will be performed by actors of KOROS, BAIA’s international adult acting group, who have achieved high qualifications in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) examinations offered at BAIA. It will be directed by Alison Shan Price, with music composed by Harriet Pethrick Bushman. This play is suitable for children of nine years old and older.

All ticket holders are required to submit their names and civil ID numbers prior to attending the performance for embassy security purposes.
